Dear friends and family,
We are Mila, Frances, Stijn and Eline and this summer we will install a solar pump in Anlo Afiadenyigba in Ghana. But before we continue let's introduce our team.
Mila
Hi, I am Mila and you can find me on the left side of the picture. I amc a third bachelor's student in bio industrial engineering. Since my first introduction to Humasol I have been determined to turn this opportunity into reality. I am always open to a new challenge and am convinced that this experience has immense personal growth to offer. I have a passion for new cultures and discovering our world. I am aware of my privileged position in having already seen beautiful parts of the world, but my wanderlust is a continually burning flame. Studying abroad and traveling gives my future plans their spark and make me enthusiastic. The idea of making an active contribution as a volunteer is very meaningful to me. I am looking forward to spend the summer in Ghana with the team.
Frances
Hi, I am Frances, the second person from the left in the photo, and I’m currently in my third bachelor year of studying engineering at the University of Ghent. I started this Humasol adventure because I wanted a new challenge and I haven’t regretted it for a moment. I am a person who loves travelling, meeting new people and getting to know other cultures. The project allows us to turn the technical knowledge into practical applications in a completely different environment where we also get to discover a new country and culture. For me, this is a perfect combination of all my interest, so I am very excited to roll up my sleeves this summer and to get to know the local people and customs together with my teammates Stijn, Mila and Eline.
Stijn
Hello everyone, i'm Stijn, as you may already guess, i'm the third person coming from the left. Last year, I joined the Humasol family and have cherished every moment since. Humasol provides an excellent platform to enhance both technical and creative skills while contributing to a better world for everyone, making it a truly unique organization. Enough praise for Humasol For me, this experience is the perfect opportunity to apply my academic knowledge to a practical project, immersing myself in new cultures and sharing my own. This approach helps make our vast, diverse world feel a bit smaller, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. I am eagerly looking forward to the Ghanaian adventure ahead. I am confident that both as a team and individually, we will acquire many valuable new skills and broaden our perspectives.
Eline
Hi, I’m Eline! You can see me on the right side of the picture. I’m a second-year master's student in bio-engineering with a focus on environmental technology. I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. Staying active and spending time with friends and family are important to me, and I enjoy playing sports. This summer, I’m really looking forward to living in Ghana for two months with Frances, Mila, and Stijn. I’m excited about getting to know my teammates better and making new Ghanaian friends. It’s always great to have international friends! I’m also eager to dive into the practical part of our project and gain new technical skills. I think it’s going to be an incredible learning experience.
We have come a long way since the application procedure until this very moment. Our project is slowly turning into reality and leaving our family and friends behind for a whole summer long, feels a lot more like an impulsive decision now. After months of preparations and research, we’re probably still not fully prepared for what this adventure will bring along its way. It has not always been smooth sailing, but we have nothing but high spirits for our upcoming adventure.
It all has felt a bit like a fever dream, but the reality is sinking in: on the third of July we are headed to the captivating land of Ghana. We are happy to share our experience through our blog posts and hope to keep you all updated!
XOXO,
Team FOS
