Kiyodel
2025
Uganda
Kiyodel is a skilling center in Uganda, providing hands-on teaching for youth without access to regular education. Currently, Kiyodel is not equipped with electricity and access to the grid is not possible. Since the school plans to provide sewing and woodworking training, an autonomous photovoltaic (PV) installation would be a sustainable solution. Electricity improves the educational activities, comfort of the students and teachers, and durability of the school because of the ability to use lighting, computers, projectors, an iron, a TV, phone charging …
Together with Humasol, Kiyodel, and Ugandan students from MUST University and Technical College Bushenyi, we as a team of bioscience engineering students (Jasmin, Leonie, Ine and Emiel) will dimension and install such an installation. By making this happen, we believe the school will be a place where opportunities get created for the students and the broader community. Besides installing the PV-installation, we will focus on raising awareness about energy consumption and recycling by means of workshops.
We hope this project contributes to the beautiful organization that Kiyodel is. We’re really excited to start this challenging journey, let the countdown begin!
