Hubi & Vinciane is a Belgian foundation, active in Benin, which aims to realise its vision of “a better world for all” in a sustainable way. The foundation aims for integral development and focuses on the problem of malnutrition through three main pillars: health care, education and entrepreneurship with a focus on agriculture and food supply.
Humasol’s project is located at Hubi & Vinciane’s “Centre d’Innov’Action de Parakou” (CIAP) in the university town of Parakou in central Benin. Through the CIAP, Hubi & Vinciane aims to coordinate, facilitate and finance innovative nutrition projects and raise awareness among the Beninese population about sustainable nutrition in collaboration with local authorities and partners. The centre brings people together to develop these projects, to organise workshops and trainings, and to facilitate the start-up of small-scale agricultural startups by local youth.
In light of CIAP’s goal of becoming fully self-sufficient in energy within three years, Humasol will be responsible for building a PV installation to supply electricity to the centre’s offices, meeting room, solar pump and aquaponics farm in a sustainable manner. Furthermore, alternative and innovative electricity generation techniques such as biogas plants and wind power will also be explored to promote the centre. Finally, the possibility of providing electrically powered scooters, the most popular means of transport in Benin, will also be explored.
